Service Provision

Sherwood Lodge is a privately run 24 bedded Victorian detached home situated within easy reach of the beach, in the popular holiday town of Weston-Super –Mare. We aim to provide a clean, safe, secure, stable and comfortable ‘homely’ environment where promoting independence, person centred care and privacy & dignity are considered paramount.

We have 10 single bedrooms and 7 (single sex) double bedrooms within which partitions or curtained screens maintain privacy and dignity. All patients who share a bedroom make an informed choice to do so prior to admission. All bedrooms have wash basins, lockable cabinet and patients are encouraged to personalise their rooms with personal belongings. All facilities and fittings at Sherwood Lodge reflect the comforts and homeliness of a private home. All rooms are fully furnished and tastefully decorated.

There are 3 lounges plus a ‘women only’ lounge; 2 dining rooms; main kitchen; activities room; visitors room; laundry room and a sheltered smoking area within our secluded rear garden. We operate a No Smoking policy throughout the building. There are identified single sex toilet and shower facilities.

Established for over 20 years Sherwood Lodge remains as one of the most experienced independent providers of Mental Health treatment and 24hr nursing care for adults, in the South West of England. We deliver comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment and care by qualified staff for patients who may have impaired life skills using the Recovery Model to maximise independence and promote quality of life. We provide a secure, relaxed and ‘homely’ environment in which care, well being and comfort are of prime importance. This philosophy is embedded within the Statement of Purpose and forms the essence of care.

We specialise in the longer term care of adults with severe and enduring mental illness and we have particular experience and expertise in the effective management of Schizophrenia and Mood Disorders.

Our policies and service provision are influenced by NICE guidance, National Policy and monitored through our clinical governance framework. We conduct regular clinical audits to aid service development and invite involvement and/or comment from patients, their relatives / carers and representatives.

We strive to ensure that the patient experience includes therapeutic, occupational, recreational and social opportunities that are planned with the patient and provided both in-house and with local colleges and other providers.

All interventions are designed to meet the patients needs, are adaptive to the environment and promote functioning where this has become impaired thereby maximising the patients potential. All patients, where capacity allows, are included in the decision making of their medication treatments.
